Beth Van De Ven

The allure of pattern, color, and the tactile nature of fiber drew me in as a child and has kept me busy ever since.  I have studied sewing, quilting, painting, drawing, and sculpture.  I love the preparation of the materials as well as the process to create something beautiful.

I use thread play with machine quilting and hand dyed fabrics to create interesting and luminous quilts.

My newest innovation is Deconstructed Quilting.  This exciting new process allows me to quilt through a material sandwich and then wash away two of the layers―what’s left is my art work.  It’s like Gossamer!
